CAMMARATA was named for MICHAEL F. CAMMARATA, who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. Firefighter Michael Cammarata, 22, Huguenot, New York, chose the same career as his brother, the firefighting brotherhood, and was employed by the FDNY. Michael always wanted to be a firefighter and left an "In case something happens to me" letter, in which he assumed however he died, he would be "on the job." Firefighter Cammarata was a 2000 graduate of Wagner College. Inducted into the Little League Hall of Excellence, he became the third Little Leaguer in the entire world. Firefighter Cammarata also was a star hockey player for a New Jersey semi-pro team.Just 9 weeks into his job with Ladder 11, Manhattan, on September 11, Firefighter Cammarata was called to the World Trade Center. He wore the same badge number his retired firefighting uncle wore for 33 years, shield 1138. Firefighter Cammarata is survived by his parents and siblings.
