America's Beloved Heroes

CURTIS was named for MICHAEL CURTIS FIORE, who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. Firefighter Fiore, age 46, Staten Island, New York, was a firefighter with Rescue Company 5 of the Fire Department of New York. In the line of duty, Firefighter Fiore lost his life when terrorists destroyed the World Trade Center. A 1978 graduate of Wagner College, he earned a Bachelor's degree in business. Except on the basketball court, Firefighter Fiore was known as a calm, quiet, low-key guy. Basketball dominated his life. He was on several teams and when his children came along, he became a coach of their teams. He involved himself in many family endeavors, including being active at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in West Brighton, NJ. Firefighter Fiore is survived by his wife, Charlene; children Jessica; Cristen; and Michael, Jr., 16, 13, and 11 at the time of their father's death; mother, Madeline; father, Michael; and sister, Linda. Pet Harbor salutes Firefighter Fiore, a hero, and names this handsome dog in his honor.
