America's Beloved Heroes

DeRUBBIO was named for DAVID P. DeRUBBIO, who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. Having grown up in Brooklyn, New York, Dave DeRubbio, 38, Bensonhurst, New York, was not only a brother in the family of firefighters but came from a very closeknit family as well. A firefighter with Engine 226 of the New York City Fire Department, shared his profession with three of his six siblings. His status is missing at the World Trade Center. Dave was a helper in everything he did. When a fellow firefighter injured his ankle, Dave carried him to the hospital. When the hospital didn't respond quickly enough, he carried him to another hospital. He leaves behind a very large and loving family, the center of which is his wonderful 12-year-old daughter Jessica, who is growing up with those same qualities and personality traits that made her dad a hero. Besides his heroic qualities, Dave DeRubbio was also a regular guy and liked to joke, thus earning him the nickname of "Crazy Dave." We salute Mr. DeRubbio, a hero, and name this very handsome dog in his honor, who very proudly wears his name.
