Grant was named after ROBERT GRANT NORTON, who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11,2001. Robert Norton, age 85, was a retiree who lived with his wife, Jacqueline, in Lubec, Maine. Both Mr. & Mrs. Norton lost their lives on American Airlines Flight 11. Mr. Norton was the oldest victim of September 11. So we thought it fitting to name our youngest adoptee after him. We named his littermate after Mrs. Norton. They were headed to Santa Barbara, California for a family wedding. Mr. Norton was an intelligent and thoughtful man who often gave books as gifts to his family and friends. He was also generous with his time, assisting neighbors with projects around their homes. Mr. Norton was very handy around the house and enjoyed spending time in his garden. He was a soft-spoken man who was deeply devoted to his wife and family. We salute Mr. Norton, a hero, and name this handsome dog in his honor. (Source: The Boston Globe 10/23/01)
