HOPPER was named for JAMES PATRICK HOPPER, who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. Mr. Hopper, age 52, Farmingdale, New York, was a security guard with Cantor Fitzgerald and was located at One World Trade Center. His brother-in-law also was so employed and died there that day as well. Reportedly, Mr. Hopper had a dry sense of humor. As reported by Newsday, when Mr. Hopper saw a donkey on a Nevada desert road, his wife said, "He really wanted to see a donkey for some reason. When he saw it, he stopped the car, and we almost went into a ditch!" Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and a daughter. A memorial service was held on October 27, 2001. Pet Harbor salutes Mr. Hopper, a hero, and names this adorable guy in his honor. (Source: Newsday.com 12/4/01)
