America's Beloved Heroes

ISABEL was named for MARIA ISABEL RAMIREZ, who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. Maria Isabel Ramirez, age 25, from New York, New York, was in the elevator at 90 West Street, a building damaged by the collapse of the World Trade Center. Ms. Ramirez was an executive secretary for Lanagan Engineering and Environmental Services and a student at John Jay College. More importantly, Ms. Ramirez is a true animal person. She is survived by her fiance, David; and her rescued dog, Mozart, a dog she got as soon as she moved out on her own because her mother was allergic and she could never keep a pet before. We salute Ms. Ramirez, a hero, and name this young dog in his honor.
