JACQUI was named after JACQUELINE J. NORTON, who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11,2001. Jacqueline Norton, age 61, was a retiree who lived with her husband, Robert, in Lubec, Maine. Both Mr. & Mrs. Norton lost their lives on American Airlines Flight 11. Mr. Norton was the oldest victim of September 11. So we thought it fitting to name our youngest adoptee after him. We named his littermate, Jacqui, after Mrs. Norton. They were headed to Santa Barbara, California for a family wedding. Mrs. Norton, a member of the Lubrec Congregational Christian Church, met her to-be-husband, a church deacon, there. Her minister called her a "precious lady." Mrs. Norton befriended the town's youth and positively impacted their lives. We salute Ms. Norton, a hero, and name this sweetheart in her honor.
