America's Beloved Heroes

LOU LOU was named for LOUIS JOSEPH MODAFFERI, who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. Captain Louis Joseph Modafferi, 45, New York, New York, a firefighter who headed Staten Island's Rescue 5 of the Fire Department of New York, lost his life at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Captain Modafferi is survived by his wife, Joanne; and children Christine, 18; Michael, 16; and Joseph, 12 at the time of their father's death. Captain Modafferi was known as a modest, fair, good-humored man who died doing what he loved to do. He was posthumously promoted to battalion chief. We salute Captain Modafferi, a hero, and name this beautiful dog in his honor.
