America's Beloved Heroes

MAX HAMMOND was named after DR. CARL MAX HAMMOND, JR., who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. DR. CARL MAX HAMMOND of Derry, New Hampshire, age 37, was a researcher with MITRE Corporation when he died aboard United Airlines flight 175 at the hands of terrorists. Dr. Hammond was known for his sense of humor, smile, and helpful nature. Old Mustangs and writing poetry were pastimes. Dr. Hammond received his Ph.D. in physics from UCLA in 1993 and Bachelor's in physics from Georgia Tech. In seventh grade, he got into trouble for contradicting his teacher on a science topic. Dr. Hammond is survived by his parents. We salute Dr. Hammond, a hero, and name this very special dog in his honor.
