MEDINA was named for ANA IRIS MEDINA, who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. Ana Iris Medina, 39, Brooklyn, New York, was employed by Aon Consulting as
an administrative assistant, where she was working the day she lost her life on the 101st floor of the 2nd World Trade Center tower. Per her usual, she was a half-hour early to work that day. Ms. Medina enjoyed salsa and dancing. She was kind, generous, and funny.
Although she had a very large family, Ms. Medina is particularly survived by her son, Leonardo, age 11 at the time of his mother's death; and mother, Monserrate, age 87 at the time of her daughter's death. Ms. Medina was the caregiver for both her mother and son. Leonardo wrote in her Legacy Guest Book on February 28, 2002, "Dear Mom: hi its your son leony.I have benn very loney with out you.It has been a little strange that youre not with us anymore. You will always and truly in my heart. Leonardo Acosta (Brooklyn, NY)."
We salute
Ms. Medina, a hero, and name this beautiful dog in her honor. (Source: The New York Times 11/1/01)
