America's Beloved Heroes

MOE was named for MAURICE VINCENT "MOE" BARRY, who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. Maurice Vincent "Moe" Barry, 48, Rutherford, New Jersey, a police officer with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and a volunteer ambulance crew member, lost his life helping people out of the burning World Trade Center towers. This was not his first heroic endeavor. Among other efforts, he rescued people from an airplane crash during the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. When during Hurricane Floyd he rescued a woman from her bedroom window and helped her into a boat and she said, "I'm not leaving without my cat," he went through the window and got her hiding cat. A 16-year veteran officer, he was only happy when helping people. A New York Giants fan, he attended with his son every week the football games played by his son's favorite team. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He is survived by his wife, Marianne; and sons, Jon-Maurice and Christian. Mr. Barry called his sons his best productions. We salute Mr. Barry, a hero, and name this precious kitten in his honor.
