ROSE was named for MELISSA ROSE BARNES, who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. Melissa Barnes, also known as Mel, age 27, from Redlands, California was employed by the United States Navy with the rank of Yeoman Second Class Petty Officer. Ms. Barne's current duty station was Chief of Naval Operations Telecommunications Center, but she was scheduled to leave in October 2001 for her first seaborne voyage. She lost her life at the Pentagon. She leaves behind her dog, Honey. Honey used to belong to Missy's sister, who died of an illness. We salute Ms. Barnes, a hero, and name this puppy in her honor.
