ROSS was named for JOSEPH ROSS MARCHBANKS, JR., who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. Joseph Ross Marchbanks, Jr., age 47, Nanuet, New York, was employed as a firefighter and lost his life as Tower 2 of the World Trade Center collapsed.
Mr. Marchbanks was deputy chief with Battalion 12 in Harlem. A 22-year firefighter for the Fire Department of New York, Chief Marchbanks was the grandson of a firefighter as well.
A twin, Chief Marchbanks was known for his sense of humor and participated in his children's sports activities, some as a coach.
Mr. Marchbanks is survived by his wife, Teresa; and children, Lauren and Ryan.
