America's Beloved Heroes

SHANE was named for TERENCE A. McSHANE, who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. Firefighter Terence A. McShane, 37, West Islip, New York, was a firefighter with the FDNY. Firefighter McShane was formerly a police sergeant and became a firefighter with Ladder 101, Engine 308, to spend more time with his family. The family of Firefighter McShane was living elsewhere while having their house renovated. Four days after the tragedy that took his life, folks came in droves to help with the renovation. Firefighter McShane is survived by his wife, Cathy; and children, Aiden, Collin, and Sean, 7, 4, and 4, respectively, at the time they lost their dad. Sean, one of the young twins, sums up how we all feel when he said, "The people who drove those planes must be from hell." Pet Harbor salutes Firefighter McShane, a hero, and names this handsome dog in his honor.
