America's Beloved Heroes

SPENCE was named for MAYNARD S. SPENCE, JR., who paid the ultimate price in the attack on America September 11, 2001. Maynard S Spence, Jr., age 42, Douglasville, Georgia, was employed as a construction safety consultant by Marsh & McLennan Cos., Inc. in Atlanta but had the unlucky fortune of being at a meeting at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Mr. Spence laughed a lot and was romantic and had strong devotion. He enjoyed pickup basketball and barbecues, but his claim to fame was what his boss called "the most honest laugh you could imagine." Mr. Spence is survived by his wife, Barbara. We salute Mr. Spence, a hero, and name this cute puppy in his honor.
