ADOPTION EVENT

All the puppies want for Christmas is bones & toys & more. They made a wish list. Folks donated some items at our adoption event. Grant, Coop, Senko, Mayra, LeBlanc, and Winuk line up in search of homes. The dogs & popsicles Kristy, Matt, & Monica wish for sunny beaches!

Volunteer Matt gives each dog his own water bottle! Siberians are so amazing they open their own. Just kidding, of course . . . or are we? Pet Harbor alumnus Phoenix (formerly Chip) decides he wants to be homeless again and goes in the crate at the event. . . or maybe he's just trying to get the toy that's in the crate. "On second thought," Phoenix decides, "I would rather stay with my home & family." His mom, Jennifer B, was pleased.

Mayra gives Matt her whole dance card for that belly rub! Phoenix & Gryffin (Pet Harbor alumni) brought their parents to come visit us at the event. They didn't get to stay long because Gryffin had to go help Mom study for finals. Phoenix thinks studying is no fun. Laurie ushers Fire & Sarge into PetsMart while Grant and volunteer Kristy have a circle of visitors.

LeBlanc (available for adoption) pleads to volunteers Amy P and Alison that since tomorrow is his birthday, his birthday wish to not be brushed should be granted. Though her husband begged her to bring a dog home, volunteer Michelle drove up from North Carolina just to walk dogs, such as Winuk (available for adoption). "Do you seriously think that will bring snow?" Winuk asks volunteer Sonja about her snow dance.

"Plié," volunteer Alison directs Winuk. Senko (available for adoption) walks Matt across the street. Then Senko walks volunteer Monica across the same street.

Finally, Senko walks Amy P, wearing the sweatshirt she won in Pet Harbor's eBay auction, across the very same road. Those cunning Siberian ways will get him a walk every time! Puppy Grant (available for adoption) laughs at his ability to get all the volunteers to do what he wants. Here is Kristy holding him. Here he chews on his leash while Kristy holds him and customers pet him.

Here volunteer Debbie holds Grant while volunteers Kristy and Alycia anxiously await their turns. Volunteer Brandi screams with glee as she holds Grant while volunteers Alison and Monica anxiously await their turns. "I'll let her think I'm playing with that wand toy. While she's distracted, I will steal that reindeer," plots Grant about Sonja.

As they size up little Grant, Jason & Jennifer B try to remember Phoenix being that small. Winuk, as tall as Grant is long, enjoys playing with his little buddy. When we have volunteers with birthdays coming to the event, we bring a cake. When no one has a birthday that month, we make up volunteers so we can eat then, too! Our delicious December birthday cake was made by Brandi.

Our blushing December birthday gals Amy P and Brittany with TJ, Chihuahua who owns volunteer Tammie and family, tries to sing with us, hoping to get his share of the cake. Three volunteers with December birthdays (Amy W, Annie, & Ashley) couldn't make it, but that meant more cake for the rest of us! "I am here to educate folks about huskies," Coop reveals. "Therefore, I have no choice but to demonstrate countersurfing." Of course, Matt, Kristy, and Alycia are all wise to the Siberian ways & are prepared for his next move. Pet Harbor board members gather to bring the year to a close. Debbie, Sarah, Sonja, Brandi, and Michelle wish every one of you a wam and furry holiday and the same for 2008!

Senko supervises while Matt, Amy P, and Monica start tearing down the crates after the event. Sarge supervises while Amy P, Matt, and Debbie work! Kristy helps Grant bark orders during the tear-down procedure.

All good things must come to an end. "The last word is mine," declares LeBlanc while Brittany is at the end of his leash!
