My Mom did laugh, but to my surporse, she actually considered it. I told her I wanted to get one from the pound. They are the ones that really needed the homes. My Mom talked with my Dad and Grandmother and did her own research. She told me that we would be picking up a dog from a rescue league called Pet Harbor.
Pepper is so full of energy that she plays all the time -- just what I wanted. Best of all, she has gotten my two older dogs back in shape and playing more. I couldn't have picked a better dog. We love her and she is now a huge part of our family.

Hi. I'm Pepper. Remember me? When I came to Pet Harbor, I came from a shelter and had one puppy. You named me Dr. Pepper and my puppy Coca-Cola. Well, I finally found a home. It took a while because you loved me so much you didn't push for me to find a home. Boy, what a home I found. My family is just awesome! I am also including a letter my teenage human wrote to you that tells you how much I am loved.
Around Christmas time 2000, I started making a Christmans list. I had the usual clothes and money and I slipped in a dog, hoping my parents would read it without laughing. You see, I already had two dogs, but they were getting older and didn't want to play with me anymore.
She told me it wouldn't be a puppy but a 4-year old dog. I was so excited I didn't care if it wasn't a puppy because the older dogs are the ones that have a harder time finding a home.
On December 17, my Mom and I went to PetCo. The people from Pet Harbor brought out Pepper. We weren't sure when we saw her because we weren't used to huskies, but she won us over. We took her home right away. She was great with our two dogs, and she didn't even bother our cats.
